Northern Championship Grand Final: London Broncos vs Featherstone Rovers
By London Broncos Women
London Broncos Women gave everything in the Northern Championship Grand Final at a rain-soaked Chiswick but ultimately fell 20–10 to a strong Featherstone Rovers side. Despite the result, the team can be immensely proud of all they have achieved this season.
The Broncos made the perfect start. A deep kick forced the Rovers into an error and after regaining possession, McLaughlin finished brilliantly in the corner, with Kathryn Salter, sponsored by Riley Bownes, adding the conversion for an early 6–0 lead. London’s momentum continued shortly afterwards when Nicole Kennedy, sponsored by Lee Bownes, powering over in the corner to extend the lead to 10–0, lifting the home crowd. In increasingly heavy rain both sides struggled with handling errors, and just before the break Featherstone found a way through to narrow the gap, leaving London narrowly ahead 10–8 at half-time.
Half-time: London Broncos 10 - 8 Featherstone Rovers
After the interval the Broncos continued to defend heroically, putting in repeated big tackles and making hard yards under pressure. The match became a battle of attrition and, despite London’s resistance, sustained Featherstone pressure eventually broke through. Two second-half tries, both converted, pushed the Rovers into a 20–10 lead. The Broncos fought to the final whistle, throwing everything at the visitors, but ultimately falling short as time ran out.
Final Score: London Broncos 10 - 20 Featherstone Rovers
Try Scorers: McLaughlin, Kennedy
Conversions: Salter 1/2
While the result was not what the team had hoped for, the Broncos can be proud of a season that saw them reach the Northern Championship Grand Final undefeated, and finish the regular season as league leaders.
The club would like to thank all the players, staff, volunteers, sponsors, and incredible supporters for backing the team throughout 2025. We’ll be back stronger next season - thank you for being part of the journey so far.
