On Sunday, an unforgettable celebration took place. The London Broncos hosted a Women’s and Girls’ Festival at their home ground, Chiswick RFC. The event featured a packed schedule of games, development sessions, and plenty of fun off the pitch. It truly showcased the growth and passion for rugby league across London and the South.
Women's development match
The day began with a fantastic Women’s Development Game. New players from clubs like Brentwood Eels, Wests Warriors, and London Broncos tried rugby league for the first time. The emphasis was on fun, learning, and building confidence. This event was a powerful reminder of how inclusive and welcoming the rugby league community is. The shared energy, team spirit, and sheer enjoyment on the pitch reflected the real success of the initiative.

Girls Futures Festival
Alongside the women's game, the final Girls Futures Festival of the season took place. It brought together U13, U15, and U17 players from across the region. This event supports the RFL’s initiative to increase development and playing opportunities for girls. The U13 girls played a full-contact competitive rugby league match that was both thrilling and inspiring.
Meanwhile, the U15 and U17 girls formed blended teams across clubs. They participated in a mixture of rugby league activities that encouraged teamwork, collaboration, and connection. Girls who had never met before worked together, shared laughs, and built friendships through the game. This proves once again that rugby league is about more than just the sport.
Teams from all corners of London and the South came together. Clubs like Elmbridge Eagles, Sidcup Sharks, Brixton Bulls, Brentwood Eels, Brighton and Hove, and London Broncos were represented. Everyone enjoyed great food, an exciting atmosphere, and the spirit of community that filled Chiswick RFC throughout the day.

Championship NORTH Round 7
The day reached a perfect climax with the Championship Round 7 match between London Broncos and the visiting Oulton Raidettes. Spectators and festival participants had the chance to watch high-level women’s rugby league in action. It was a thrilling display of skill, intensity, and passion that inspired the next generation of players watching from the sidelines.
This was the first major event hosted at Chiswick RFC by the London Broncos since becoming their new home this season. The venue exceeded expectations. With its fantastic facilities and welcoming atmosphere, it proved to be the ideal base for future growth, development, and celebration of the women’s and girls’ game.
