INTERNATIONAL ROUND UP

It’s been an incredible few weeks for our London Broncos Women, with several players representing their countries in international rugby league action.

Scottish Debuts for the Smart Twins
A huge congratulations to Becky (sponsored by Sally Bownes) and Sarah Smart, who made their Scotland Rugby League debuts in their first-ever international test match. The twin duo faced off against Wales RL, against fellow Bronco Kathryn Salter in a thrilling contest. The match was finely balanced at half-time with Scotland trailing 12-10, but a last-minute try from the Welsh side secured an 18-12 win for Wales.
Sarah Smart had a dream debut; scoring a try, kicking a conversion, and adding a penalty goal, making her Scotland Women’s current top point scorer. Becky Smart also put in a strong shift in defence and attack, helping Scotland stay in contention right up to the final whistle. They will take on England Lions in October and Jamaica RL in November.

Salter Hits 13 Caps for Wales
A big shoutout also goes to Kathryn Salter (sponsored by Riley Bownes), who pulled on the red jersey for Wales Rugby League in two international tests, against Scotland RL and England RL, taking her international tally to an impressive 13 caps.
Against Scotland, Kathryn made a major impact, crossing for a try and setting up another, helping her side to victory in a tight encounter. Her experience and leadership on the pitch continues to be a huge asset, and we couldn’t be prouder of her achievements in the Welsh shirt.

Irish Pride in Green
Back in July, we also saw three of our Broncos represent Ireland Rugby League against France. While the scoreboard didn’t fall in Ireland’s favour, it was still a momentous occasion for the players and for the club. Congratulations to Polly Roberts (sponsored by MacConvilles), Iona McCusker (sponsored by Social Personnel) and Jade Walker (sponsored by Wests Warriors).
Pulling on the green jersey is a special honour, and each of them gave their all in a hard-fought match. There will be further games for the girls in green in October including the 2025 World Series in Canada, and a chance to qualify for the 2026 WRL World Cup.

Our Broncos continue to make their mark on the international stage, whether it’s debut brilliance, key tries, or leadership in high-pressure moments, we are immensely proud of every single player who has represented their country.
