Introducing London Broncos Women

Dear Broncos Community,

We’re excited to share an important update with you. Going forward, we will be changing our name from London Broncos Ladies to London Broncos Women.

Why the Change?

This change reflects our commitment to inclusivity, equality, and aligning with the evolving language of women’s sport. Across the sporting world, the term ‘Women’ is being adopted as the standard for professional and amateur teams alike, reinforcing our status as a strong, competitive, and professional team.

Why Language Matters

Words shape perceptions, and the way we describe ourselves matters. The term ‘Ladies’ has traditionally been associated with ideas of ‘physical frailty and the need for protection’—as sports journalist Emma Ballard (Women’s Sport Trust Senior Comms and Marketing Manager) has put it in a recent article—which does not reflect the strength, skill, and competitiveness of our team.

Additionally, discussions within the sports community, such as those highlighted in Emma Ballard's article, emphasise that modernising language in sport is an essential step towards true equality. Many organisations and teams have already made similar changes, and we believe it’s time for us to do the same.

A Decision from Within This change isn’t just about branding—it’s about identity. It was driven by the players themselves, the heart of our team, whose voices matter most in shaping our future. Their dedication and commitment continue to define who we are.

While our name is changing, our core values, determination, and passion for the game remain the same. We are proud to represent the London Broncos and will continue striving for success both on and off the field.
