A Dominating Performance

The Broncos delivered a commanding performance at Heywood Road. They defeated the league leaders Swinton Lionesses 6-34. This victory moved them to the top of the table for the first time this season.

The Broncos made an assertive start in the first half. They crossed the whitewash several times, seizing control early on. Tries from Hunt-Pain, Bell, Cairns, Smart, and King set the tone. The Broncos showcased incisive attacking play and resolute defense, keeping Swinton on the back foot.

London dominated both possession and territory. They forced Swinton into repeated errors and capitalized on the resulting opportunities. Just before the break, the Lionesses responded through Pritchard, who produced a long-range effort against the run of play.

Half-Time Analysis

Half-time Score: Swinton Lionesses 6-22 London Broncos

After the interval, the Broncos maintained their intensity. The second half saw a more stop-start run of play, yet they continued to press their advantage. Kennedy scored not one, but two tries in this half. She exploited gaps in an increasingly fatigued Swinton defense.

Swinton’s frustrations mounted quickly. A yellow card was shown for a high tackle as they struggled to contain the Broncos’ pace and physicality.

Defensive Excellence

Defensively, London was exceptional. They repelled multiple sets on their own line and consistently pinned Swinton deep in their half. The Broncos displayed incredible resilience, even amidst a few unforced errors.

Rosie Cairns delivered an exceptional all-round performance. She combined sharp attacking runs with relentless defensive work. For her efforts, she was deservedly named Player of the Match, proudly sponsored by UniPhi.

This match was a huge win, a big statement, and it positioned a new team at the top of the Northern Championship.
